We've been recommending responsive design for a while now and recently we are seeing more and more traffic to our client's websites coming from mobile devices and tablets. This can be above 50% in many cases meaning that these visitors are becoming the majority. It therefore makes sense for Google to re-assess the way searches work based on the way people are using the web, but this change will be a worry to many who have built up large scale sites without mobile devices in mind.
