Sumburgh Head Lighthouse & Visitor Centre
A world class visitor attraction.
The lighthouse buildings at Sumburgh Head have been authentically restored as part of a £5.4million programme, culminating in the creation of a world class visitor attraction. The project is led by Shetland Amenity Trust, in partnership with RSPB and a range of generous funders.
The website features information about the background and plans for the project. There is also a great deal of information about the history of the location, dating back to the lighthouse's construction in 1821.A popular feature on this website is it's webcam, which if you are lucky enough to check out on a nice day, you should see some spectacular views and perhaps even some of Sumburgh's unique bird and wildlife.
