E-commerce overhaul for Orkney's pioneering jeweller

Background

Ola Gorie is Orkney’s pioneering jewellery designer who founded the company bearing her name in 1960. With a range of inspiring collections influenced by Orkney’s rich cultural heritage, Ola Gorie Jewellery has a strong reputation for high-quality Scottish, Celtic and Norse inspired jewellery designs.

Challenge

In 2016, it was time for the website to receive a complete overhaul as the existing site had a dated visual design, lack of mobile compatibility, and most importantly, it was struggling to generate enough online sales.

Solution

NB was contracted to carry out digital strategy services to define exactly who the site should be aimed at and how more visitors could be converted into customers. Using our e-commerce platform of choice, Shopify, we created a bespoke theme which showcases the quality of the jewellery and provides visitors with an intuitive way of navigating the site.

Results

The resulting site has helped Ola Gorie staff to radically reduce the admin time spent on processing orders and updating product information. In addition, they can now perform updates to the site themselves instead of having to go through a developer every time something needs changed. NB are now working with Ola Gorie Jewellery on an ongoing basis to develop a digital marketing strategy which further improves conversion rates using compound optimisation techniques. Through a series of marketing campaigns, NB will use social media, email marketing and search engine optimisation to cement the brand message and drive future growth.
