Background
Ipieca is the global oil and gas association dedicated to advancing environmental and social performance across the energy transition. It brings together members and stakeholders to lead in integrating sustainability by advancing climate action, environmental responsibility and social performance across oil, gas and renewables activities. Ipieca was founded at the request of the United Nations Environment Programme in 1974. Through its non-lobby and collaborative approach Ipieca remains the industry’s principal channel of engagement with the UN.
A comprehensive redevelopment was required to replace the existing but outdated site with a fresh-looking, high-performing site which was easy to use by site administrators and front-end visitors.
It was important that the website reinforced Ipieca’s key communications objectives and strengthened the association’s reputation as a trusted sustainability leader for the industry, promoting environmental and social performance.
Challenge
Ipieca needed a new website to share knowledge which advances the oil, gas and alternative energy industry’s sustainability performance. The site had to align with the new communications strategy, and it was crucial that all content complied with Ipieca’s and members’ brand propositions, consolidating their positions as industry leaders.
The existing site CMS was inefficient and as part of the redesign there was a requirement to migrate to a more flexible, more efficient system, with improved usability.
It was also necessary to improve website performance and user experience, making it quicker and easier for members and stakeholders to find relevant information.
Solution
The whole site was migrated to our favoured CMS, which is much more responsive, intuitive, and flexible to improve administration.
Underpinned by optimised code, front-end improvements were implemented to improve performance and usability. The site’s filtering functionality was also radically improved, and we introduced intuitive language and translation management, increasing accessibility.
The website is designed with Ipieca’s four strategic pillars of climate, nature, people and sustainability in mind, with the site architecture built to reflect this consistently throughout. The homepage design allows key messages to be communicated clearly with the resources section highlighted as a CTA.
