Harper Macleod

Website support and development for one of Scotland's biggest legal and property firms.

Project Overview

Harper Macleod's high traffic property portals estateagencyshetland, estateagencymoray and estateagencyhighlands promote homes and commercial properties for sale or lease across the north of Scotland. NB created user-friendly and efficient websites and rolled out a consistent online presence as the firm expanded into new areas.

NB’s team understood the high performance required in today’s competitive estate agency marketplace. The site is user-friendly, responsive and scalable. Having the ability to meet face-to-face when necessary was a real benefit.

Background

When Harper Macleod acquired Dowle, Smith & Rutherford, the isles’ estate agency that operated the portal, they needed to:

  • Bring its look and feel into line with their own brand
  • Maintain user familiarity on the popular site.

Challenge

  • Bring its look and feel into line with their own brand
  • Maintain user familiarity on the popular site.

Solution

Our project management team in Edinburgh worked closely with the client’s web team in Glasgow, developing the architecture of the new fully responsive site.

  • Adding a map to explore properties by location
  • Developing a grid overview that enabled properties to be scanned quickly
  • Integrated with social media channels, now a key asset for all estate agency sites.

We also streamlined site management, reducing the time required to add new property listings:

  • Single image upload, with cropping and size optimisation within the CMS
  • A particular template coded into the CMS, making it easy to create branded, downloadable PDFs for every property.
  • The CMS has also been future proofed to capture the latest digital trends such as 360° video.

Properties list view

Table List - We retained a popular feature in the list view from the previous website, but modernised the design and also tweaked it to work well on mobile devices
2

Properties grid view

The flexible grid layout option provides a visual display of properties that adapts to all devices and retains key property information
3

Explore properties by location

The interactive map provides users with an intuitive way of exploring all properties and their current status with helpful click-through links to property detail pages.
4

Single property

Photos First The single property page prioritises images - the most popular part of property listings. Images can be enlarged and navigated by click, arrow keys and swipe.

Results

Having launched the new Shetland portal, Harper Macleod worked with us to use the template to launch a new agency site for Inverness quickly, cost effectively and rolling out the brand.
