Jollys of Orkney have been serving Orkney for over 60 years as a primary source for premium quality fish and shellfish in the area. They also supply some of Scotland’s top restaurants including Gleneagles and The Balmoral.
The company continues to use traditional methods to prepare seafood, but have recently increased their range of other local produce, including fudge, oatcakes, cheese, meats and biscuits. Jollys needed a new website to improve sales, reduce customer frustration and cater for visitors across all devices. We developed a detailed plan of how to migrate the products and customer data from the old website. As a registered Shopify partner we began to import this data to the new system whilst simultaneously working on a theme and styleguide with the client.
The design for the new site incorporates the same branding as the Jollys packaging and the responsive theme includes a clear and concise menu across all devices.
Behind the scenes, we made sure that Jollys could keep track of how their site performs by setting up custom reports, analytics tracking and conversion analysis.
One of the main issues with the old site was the number of abandoned orders. By configuring the new site to optimise conversion rates, the site is much easier to use and provides automated emails to customers who don’t complete their order.
The new Jollys site met the pre-Christmas deadline and performed incredibly well with improved conversion rates and significantly lower checkout issues experienced by customers. The average session duration during the first 30 days after launched approached an impressive 5 minutes, demonstrating that both new and existing customers were engaged with the site content.
