NB has been working with The Swan Trust in Shetland to give their existing website a refresh. The Swan Trust look after the 120-year-old fishing vessel, Swan, which was restored 25 years ago for sail training and tourism purposes. The website provides an online portal for all things Swan-related, including details on the history of the fishing sail boat and details of upcoming trips and events.

We created the original website back in 2009 and have provided ongoing web maintenance support to the Trust ever since. Last year, we were asked to help incorporate a new booking system onto the site, allowing passengers to book and pay for their trips directly online. We also added a number of other new features, including an image gallery, a supporters section, volunteer sign-up form and newsletter sign-up form. We also set up a Local Giving page, where Swan supporters can donate money to the Trust online. The Trust hopes that all of this will enable better communication with its customers and volunteers, as well as an easier booking process.

David Goodlad, Chair of the Swan Trust, said: “Swan is a unique vessel, and a great community asset. We have always attracted a range of passengers, both local and from further afield and we hope our 2020 diary will appeal to both. We have scheduled trips which help us achieve our core aims, of promoting our heritage and islands and enabling anyone to learn the techniques of sailing a traditional sail Fifie, as well as being attractive to passengers, to help us earn income to maintain the vessel.

"We are delighted with the work NB Communication have done to upgrade our website. To be able to take online bookings, payments and donations for the first time is a big step forward for us and will make the booking process much easier. Along with the varied diary and activities on offer, we hope this will make our 2020 season a success.”
