  • COVID-19: how accountancy firms can support your business
March 26, 2020

With the COVID-19 situation fast-evolving, information and advice on what businesses should do can change quickly. Thankfully there are accountancy firms on hand to help guide you through these changes and clarify what support is available to you.

The coronavirus global health emergency has meant that the UK government has had to act quickly to issue help and support to businesses who have been forced to change day-to-day operations, downscale or temporarily close to keep in line with compulsory social distancing measures. You can read the latest guidance for employers and employees on the UK government website and there's further support on the Scottish government's business website.

If you're struggling to get your head around these new measures, and what you as an employer or self-employed person should be doing, then many accountancy firms are providing regular updates and webinars online with further guidance.

We list five Scottish accountancy firms we work with who are keeping clients up to date and could offer you support should you need it:

Scholes Chartered Accountants
Scholes have created a useful resource hub for small businesses and lots of useful blogs, including information on the government's Job Retention Scheme and the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme. They've also created The Small Business Coronavirus Support Guide, which you can download for just £1.99. All proceeds will go to the NHS and other charities supporting people who have been affected by COVID-19.

CRC Accountancy
CRC held an informative coronavirus webinar on their website, which is still available to watch, plus they've got a host of useful blogs on their website on all things business-related to coronavirus.

BML Accounts
BML has published a series of blog posts offering assistance to business owners and the self employed about the support that is now available.

Bon Accord Accountancy and Source Accounting can also offer professional assistance.
