Ava joined NB Communication in 2017 as a Project Manager, based in the Lerwick Office.
Ava graduated from the Robert Gordon University with a first class BA (Honours) in Business Management. She was also named as one of the University’s ‘Success Students’ for achieving a first class under challenging circumstances; working part-time in a HR role, caring for her toddler, being pregnant with her second child and managing the household whilst commuting to Aberdeen from Lerwick monthly to attend weekend workshops. Ava also has a postgraduate qualification in Human Resource Management, obtained at the Robert Gordon University.
In her role as Project Manager, Ava works closely with clients to ensure the smooth running of projects through clear communication and close attention to detail. Her strong organisational skills are vital in helping projects achieve their outcomes within agreed timescales.
Ava has a diverse employment background; she has worked in various roles for both the public sector and private sector, including local authority, the oil and gas industry and the Civil Service. Through working for a range of employers, Ava has been exposed to many different methods of working. She has benefitted from excellent training and has fully realised her core skillset, which includes strong interpersonal skills, negotiation skills and problem solving skills.
Ava is very organised and enjoys using her analytical approach to make improvements to systems and procedures. In her previous role, she used this ability to develop a significant new initiative which is being rolled out across Scotland. Ava also has a love for spreadsheets; she appreciates using advanced functions for planning and organising purposes. She will utilise them at any opportunity where she can justify it!
Outside of work, Ava enjoys spending time with her family, exploring Shetland and playing netball. Ava has an appetite for learning so is usually making her way through a few business or personal development books.
