Alex is NB's Account Executive with responsibility for clients in Shetland and Orkney.
He joined NB at the beginning of 2015 after relocating to Shetland from Edinburgh. With family connections in Orkney and Shetland Alex has a strong knowledge of both island groups, as well as a business brain that can help decipher the opportunities and challenges organisations face in these areas.
Alex is our main man on the ground in Orkney, making multi-day trips every month or so. Over the last couple of years, he has played a key role in all of our Orkney projects acting as the main point of contact and relaying requirements and queries to NB’s development team.
In addition to assisting with projects such as visitorkney.com, cruise-orkney.com and Orkney.com, Alex works closely with a number of clients on an ongoing basis to develop creative marketing initiatives that continually drive success for the likes of Shetland Distillery Company, Ola Gorie Jewellery and Jolly’s of Orkney.
Alex’s major achievements at NB to date include:
- Leading the online marketing activity for Shetland Reel Gin leading to 600% year on year increase in sales
- Managing the cruise-orkney.com project to create a portal of information for cruise visitors
- Ongoing marketing activities for Jolly’s of Orkney leading to 53% increase in online sales and dramatically improved conversion rates
Alex’s background is in the creative industries having run a successful audio company and music studio in Edinburgh. With extensive experience in the branding, design and marketing strategy for a number of arts projects, he brings creative and technical value to both client projects and NB’s internal business development activities.
When not in the office, Alex can usually be found crafting his homebrew ales and bread-baking skills or strumming a guitar to a background of electronic beats from his croft base in the South mainland.
