We want to congratulate Robert John Anderson on his successful summer placement with us at NB Communication.

Glasgow University student Robert won the Talent Scotland Summer Placement Programme after a Dragon's Den-style competition in which he presented his project findings.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise offers students from across Scotland the chance to work for up to 12 weeks with local businesses as part of the programme.

NB Communication was delighted to welcome Robert as part of their team. The aim of his project was to create a new information system to help the company to grow, and just as importantly to allow him to gain some valuable work experience during his years of study. Robert brought fresh knowledge and ideas to NB Communication.

At the end of August, 21 students in the programme from across Scotland gathered in Inverness to present their project findings to a panel of business experts.

We were delighted that Robert was the winner. To top that, he also won the People's Choice Award from the audience, which included business people and fellow students.

After the presentation Robert said: "The work I was doing was important to the company - there was real demand for the new information system. NB Communication is a small, ambitious firm and my placement offered them the opportunity to achieve this project.

"The programme is an excellent way of linking the talent of students and companies. I was determined to do a good job for them and I'm delighted to have won after putting so many hours into the job."

David Nicol, Managing Director here at NB Communication, said: "I am delighted with everything Robert has done. I had no idea he would be able to do so much in such a short space of time. We are thrilled with what he has been able to achieve in 12 weeks. We would never have had him if it wasn't for the scheme."

We want to thank Robert for his hard work and time put into the project. The development of the information system will be of huge importance and benefit to NB Communication.

We wish Robert a rewarding and successful fourth year at Glasgow University.
